Based out of North Liberty, Iowa, we provide speech and occupational therapy services to children and their families throughout Eastern Iowa – including Des Moines, Ames, Cedar Rapids, and Iowa City.
If your child has sensory processing challenges, feeding, speaking, or another developmental delay, we want to give them opportunities to grow skills, have fun, and succeed.

From Dream to an Expanding Pediatric Therapy Clinic
Sensory Kids Iowa exists out of the passion and hard work of occupational therapist and founder, Teresa Grueter.
After serving in multiple pediatric roles, she had a dream of creating her own sensory clinic where she could combine her passion for using the best tools of occupational therapy with exceptional relationships with children and parents.
But starting a clinic is a big undertaking, so Teresa kept putting off the dream for one reason after another.
Dreams turned into action while sitting on the beach during a vacation in 2017 and watching her own children. After a battle with cancer and seeing the outpouring of community love, Teresa was hit with the thought...
“The time is now. Tomorrow is not guaranteed. Families need this service now.”
And Teresa started building her dream therapy practice in the basement of her own home.
Teresa was right. Families did need these services – right now, right in her North Liberty community. As her work positively impacted families, word spread, and new referrals kept rolling in. Within 2 short years, what began as a small private practice was bursting at the seams of her basement space.
So Sensory Kids Iowa moved to its first clinic location, featuring a full sensory gym, expanded staff, and new programs – including speech therapy, feeding therapy, and summer camps.
Families started traveling from miles away for support in navigating preschool with a new autism diagnosis or to take part in summer intensives.
And once again, Sensory Kids Iowa needed to find more space. So in the winter of 2022, Sensory Kids upgraded to a new, larger facility in the charming location of the former North Liberty Police Station.
It was exciting to inhabit such an important community landmark while bringing over all the sensory kid favorites like the zip line, suspended swings, foam pits, and climbing walls.
Even with this tremendous growth, the core mission and values to provide personalized therapy and exceptional service stay the same. Over and over again, new and seasoned therapists have worked together to build Sensory Kids Iowa into the special place it is today.
